Have you sought out diet or exercise tips and tricks more than once in your life?
What about after having success with something in the past?
I’m going to share with you what I consider to be the “secret” to painless, permanent weight loss.
At one point, counting calories or cutting carbs worked…but the weight came back on (more than ever) after life got in the way and you’re once again searching for the answer.
Not just the answer, but the “solution”.
How Many Times Are You Going To Keep Repeating This Same Self-Defeating Cycle?
If you’re like most women (the ones that fail to take action) you’re what I would call an information gatherer.
Nothing gets you more excited than the “idea” of getting results.
You buy the latest weight loss books, workout DVD programs and everything else that promises quick, painless and easy results.
Yet you still find yourself “running in circles” and chasing the thing that will change your life.
Is this you?
Or maybe you fall into the next category – those that take action, but don’t follow through or create lasting change. You do things that require a low commitment level like short term specials on gyms, a few sessions with a personal trainer, a 21 day detox diet or even a 4 week strict meal plan.
But then you gain ever last pound back after seeing “success”.
These women are far worse off than the “information gatherers” because they feel like they’ve failed, time after time.
Remember the saying of “To have loved and lost, or never have loved at all”?
What’s worse in your opinion?
Getting results, then falling back into that painful, unhappy place?
Or playing with the thought of creating change but never taking action?
I’ll tell you the truth- and the 3 things you need to create lasting change, once and for all.
Here’s the secret:
Commitment + Purpose + Accountability
Secret #1 Commitment
Commitment is usually what’s lacking and why so often we go with the “cheaper” option or the one that only requires us for a few days or weeks.
I get it – gyms love to lock us into 12 or 24 month contracts, regardless of whether we show up or not (which is why we actually track attendance at our gym – to prevent this!).
If you ask me, most programs want a low commitment level from you.
You become like an addict – you get excited by the initial rush of losing weight, feeling great and getting results – then fall back into bad habits and repeat the same BUYING cycle. (Yes, they collect on you again!)
Could you imagine if ALL of the members of your local gym decided to show up one day? We could both agree that you would be packed in, side by side like sardines next to one another.
By committing to yourself on a high level and going “all-in” you’ll set yourself up for success.
Secret #2 Purpose
Do you have a lack of purpose?
Do you say you want to lose weight or become “healthier?
What emotions fire you up and get you excited about the idea? I find that if we remind ourselves of these reasons, we’ll be far more likely to follow through and get results.
If we leave a diet as just a diet and a process that we MUST put ourselves through regardless of HOW we feel, it’s going to be far less likely to sustain over time.
If we have an emotional reason & purpose attached to it, then we can find ourselves driven when motivation was low and just feeling better all around with the daily actions we take in our strategy.
Look at the difference between the two following phrases…..
“I’m on a diet to lose weight and fit into my clothes again, as painful as it may be I’m going to do it.”
“I’m becoming a healthier, happier version of myself as I shift my habits and attitudes with healthy eating and exercise. I know I’ll feel better about myself, regain confidence and have more energy to play with my kids when I get home from work. I’ll no longer miss out on the “special moments” because I’m thinking about counting calories or feel physically drained.”
Do you see the difference? The emotion – that’s it. Two people doing the same exact thing, but with completely different mindsets, purpose and attitude attached to it.
Secret #3 Accountability
Would you agree that we find ourselves willing to do more for others than we do for ourselves sometimes?
This is no secret – but we still find ourselves prioritizing others and it’s not always for the best reasons. This is something we must work on from our own mindset, but the fastest way to follow through for ourselves is to have an accountability coach.
Someone that makes sure you’re showing up, following through and can pick you up those moments when you’re down.
By making a commitment to not let someone else down and have their support in addition to that, you’ll find yourself far more likely to succeed.
Every area of my life that I wanted to grow and excel, I’ve made an investment and commitment to a coach to help me in all areas – and never have I regretted it.
We’ll draw out your goals and give you an honest answer as to what it’s going to take to reach them in the time you want to.
I hope this article helped you take action and I look forward to helping you in anyway I can!
