“I’ve had 4 spinal surgeries and 3 fusions, where I was housebound and would fatigue easily between all of the back pain. When I began personal training with Action Fitness, John called my physical therapist to build a workout program based around what I could and couldn’t do. My doctor said he would have expected me in for another surgery as what I have is progressive, but after all of the strengthening to the muscles around my spine I’ve been able to keep off of the operating table and for that I am extremely grateful.”
“My challenges were motivation and energy, previously broken wrists, along with a lack of upper body strength in my shoulder following surgery for my torn labrum. The modifications John offered me helped find ways for me to still progress my strength by giving alternatives that didn’t cause me pain, such as modified chest presses instead of pushups. The results over the past 8 months have been 14 pounds of weight loss, 2 pants sizes, increased endurance and improved strength.”
“Before I started working with John and Action Fitness I had considerable difficulty with flexibility and balance following my knee replacement surgery a few years ago. One of the things that I wasn’t expecting before I began personal training were the results I saw from my blood work showing the improvements in my cholesterol level, triglycerides and several other areas. The only thing that really changed in my lifestyle has been John’s fitness program, which could be the only explanation for the improvements. I also noticed that I’m more tone, my clothes fit better, there’s more energy throughout my day and I have increased flexibility.”
“Before I started training with John my personal challenges were not having a lot of stamina or energy which is hard, especially considering I’m a teacher working with kids all day. I really felt tired just walking up and down the stairs at home, or going to the supermarket as I went from aisle to aisle. In the past I’ve tried programs where I’m going 3 or 4 weeks, but then I would stop – so the biggest thing was to find some motivation just to stay committed. John made a lot of modifications for me because of my arthritis, being overweight, and age which really helped me see progress. He was really sensitive to the fact that I could be pushed further, when he would later challenge me in less modified ways. Not only am I continuing personal training right after work every week, but more importantly my stamina has increased and I can walk around outside with my students and feel good without being winded.”
