Silverado’s – A “Great American Restaurant”

Sunday is always my “lazy day” of the week – I tend to spend the other 6 working away, or studying marketing and fitness. I like to combine my lazy day with something else that I love to do besides work – try out a new restaurant!

If you’ve had the chance to go to any of the Great American Restaurants around Northern Virginia, you’ve probably found a pretty unique experience. The atmosphere is definitely catered and presented to a “high end” crowd, yet the prices are at a reasonable level. The one problem I find with all of the GAR Restaurants closer to Fairfax, is that the menu items are practically identical. Some have different names, but are nearly the same exact dish at Coastal Flatts, Mike’s American Grill, Artie’s, and Sweetwater Tavern.

There are two exceptions that come with this.

Ozzie’s in Fairfax Corner, which brings a fairly different variety – but Silverado’s definitely has something much more unique, the Sunday Brunch!

I went with the fajitas, which I would absolutely not insist on if you’re watching your diet to the detail – great for an “off-day”. However, they do throw in scrambled eggs into the mix, which is what makes this so different than what you’ll find at your local mexican restaurant. On top of this, they have a killer choice of other brunch options. I’m not talking purely pancakes and waffles here, there’s lean egg dishes galore – some I’ve never even seen before!

Overall, each and every one of these Great American Restaurants isn’t known for it’s healthy options. In fact, friends that have been and currently are employees, have told me that the average meal is drowned in butter. If you’re looking for the best brunch in the Fairfax/Annandale area this is definitely one of my top recommendations!
