The HARDEST Part of Starting to Exercise

So you just pulled up in front of the gym, and you’re getting excited as you can feel your heart starting to pump. You’ve been thinking about how much you wanted to transform your body for months, probably close to something you saw in your favorite magazine. The hard part is done, you signed your name on the dotted line with your credit card so now that you’ve paid ALL THAT MONEY you should be on your way to success….right?

Well, if it was truly that easy the 90% of gym members that never actually go would be in a much different place with their mind and body currently as I write this. So what is it exactly that pushes people away after days or even a week or two of consistent exercise? Well, the physical challenge CAN be an impacting factor (especially 2-3 days AFTER you use a muscle you haven’t in years!) but the MENTAL aspect of consistent motivation is where most fall short.

This is why so many men and women hire a Personal Trainer to take them from start to finish. Most gyms or PT companies hold you financially accountable with a strict non-cancellation policy which not only protects the business but has you feeling INCLINED to hold YOURSELF accountable. If this isn’t the route for you for whatever reason it may be, G-O-A-L setting is the BEST way to get to where you want to be:

-Take that picture of what you want to transition your body into; cut it out and put it somewhere that you see it EVERY day

-Write down where you are, where you want to be in 3 months, and milestone points in between. This will keep you motivated as you will not only see the end in sight, but the steps along the way

-Have a CLEAR exercise and nutrition plan outlined to follow – without a plan your odds of success are exponentially decreased!

-CHEAT…..but only one day week! Reward yourself this way, or think of something else creative that rewards the personal interests YOU have!

 

If you follow these steps you WILL achieve your goals, but if you feel as though you need a Personal Trainer it is without a doubt your best way to find external motivation WITH accountability built in!
